Homewood Suites: the only all-suite hotel, right on River Street.
Homewood Suites is just a short walk past all the monuments along the river, is now one of River Street’s largest hotels with 160 suites. Each suite is complete with a sleeper sofa, 42-inch HD TV, complimentary Wi-Fi, a dining area that doubles as a workspace and a fully equipped kitchen. It features a full-size refrigerator, microwave, two-burner stove and dishwasher all within the comfort of your hotel room.
Guests have the option of one king bed, one queen bed or two queen beds.
Suites range from 280 square feet to 675 square feet. All studios with one bed have a walk-in glass shower while studios with two beds feature a tub/shower combination.
In addition to the comforts that each room provides, Homewood Suites has other great amenities. A 24-hour business center with 2,000 square feet of meeting space can accommodate up to 100 people. There is a fitness center, heated resort-style pool and a whirlpool on the roof with cabanas featuring flat-screen televisions.
The roof top bar is amazing. This intimate outdoor space allows guests to view the large container ships coming in and going out, while relaxing in a roof top pool.
Other amenities include free hot breakfast daily, a complimentary evening social Monday through Thursday, 5 p.m.-7 p.m., a 24-hour onsite convenience store, guest laundry facility, onsite concierge services and complimentary grocery shopping service.
But it’s not just the amenities that make this new hotel special.
Homewood Suites uses solar panels to harness sustainable energy. This not only saves them money but reduces their carbon footprint.
“We chose to go with solar PV on the high roof because we want to see how it works here in Savannah and if we can scale it up to our larger projects both here in Savannah and elsewhere in the Southeast. To our knowledge, we are the only hotel in the Historic District currently utilizing solar panels.”
But that’s not the only green choice Homewood Suites is making. With intensive green roofs located on the third and eighth floor, Homewood Suites is able to cut down on the thermal load on the building. These green roofs, which are similar to a raised planting bed, also serve as a rainwater containment system and reduce the amount of runoff from the building.
Homewood Suites is the first of three hotels in the River Street East development which will also include up to a 600-space parking garage, 50,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and 320 linear feet of floating dock on the Savannah River.
Homewood Suites by Hilton Savannah Historic District/Riverfront is located at 611 East River Street. For more information about the hotel, call (912) 355-0025 or click here to visit their website.
