Mrs. Wilkes House and Dining Room
Opened in 1943, The Wilkes House has long been a famous staple of the Savannah experience. The restaurant is open only Monday-Friday, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for lunch, and no reservations are taken. Tables seating 10 people. In the spirit of the boarding house, you are seated with others if your party does not fill a table. The likes House serves platters of their famous fried chicken and cornbread dressing, sweet potato souffle, black-eyed peas, okra gumbo, corn muffins, macaroni and cheese, potatoes, candied yams and so much more.

In 1998, Jennifer Beaufait Grayson opened the doors to One Fish Two Fish in Midtown, but she made the move to Whitaker in 2002 to be closer to her customers. The store holds furniture, home accessories, jewelry, gift items and more. In 2010, The Annex was added right across the street in an old renovated gas station, and Jennifer now has her own boutique as a sister store. The Future on Forsyth
The Future on Forsyth is a thrift store with a modern twist. They specialize in new, used, vintage, and retro clothing for both men and women. It’s here, you’ll find vintage dresses, jackets, purses, jewelry, and shoes all gathered personally by the store’s owner, Lauren McCoy, who studied fashion at the Savannah College of Art and Design. She rummages through flea markets, junk shops and estate sales to find unique pieces to sell in The Future. It’s a fun store with the eclectic style that you’ll see many locals sporting around town.
