“Wild Reflections” Exhibit Featuring Wildlife Paintings by Railey Cooley. Plant Riverside District’s Grand Bohemian Gallery will feature captivating oil paintings by Savannah, Ga. artist Railey Cooley from August 26 to September 30. On Friday, August 26, guests can enjoy an artist reception with complimentary wine from 5-8 p.m. This exhibit is free and open to the public.
A talented artist specializing in realistic animal portraiture, Cooley will take guests on an African safari through detailed paintings celebrating the majesty of wildlife. All proceeds from exhibition sales will be used to fund Cooley’s trip to the Maasai Mara, a national reserve in Kenya, where she will volunteer with nonprofit African Impact.
An acclaimed artist with 15 years of experience, Cooley was the winner of Steven Assael’s Strokes of Genius art competition in 2019 and was commissioned to paint portraits of the silver Olympic medal-winning U.S. Equestrian Team horses. Originally from Charlottesville, Va., Cooley graduated from the College of Charleston and the highly competitive Florence Academy of Art’s three-year drawing and painting program in Italy. Cooley also studied at the Florence Academy of Art in New York City and participated in the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Copyist Program and the Virginia Governor’s School portrait workshops. Her work has been featured in Condé Nast’s The World of Interiors and The Best of Drawing magazines. Cooley is a member of the Artists Association of Nantucket and the Barcelona Academy of Art and is the owner of Railey Cooley Fine Art Gallery in City Market in Savannah.
