February 22nd, 2014 Savannah’s 4th Annual A-Town Get Down Music & Arts Fest. A-Town Get Down is Savannah’s most eclectic and diverse music & arts festival to honor the memory of Alex Townsend, a junior at Savannah College of Art and Design who passed away in a car accident on Valentine’s Day 2010. In his name, Alex’s friends and family use the A-Town Get Down to celebrate his love of Savannah, music and the arts for hundreds of people each year. In the spirit of celebrating the music and city that Townsend loved so much, A-Town Get Down features over 25 local and regional live bands and visual artists. The festival is adding workshops in songwriting, urban art, performance, art labs, Children’s Section with do-it-yourself art lab & more. This year, musical artists include Randall Bramblett, The Lee Boys, Shonna Tucker and Eye Candy, Sol Driven Train, Jon Waits & Co., Annalise Emerick and many more! Youth ensembles include Savannah Arts Academy Eclipse, Savannah Children’s Choir’s Preparatory Choir and Coastal Middle School Jazz band. Live Art Exhibitions and workshops include ceramics, screen printing, open poetry jam, painting and urban art, children’s art activities and electronic artists in the Adobe Arts Loft, sponsored by Adobe and so much more! All net proceeds will go to art scholarship funds.
