Plant Riverside District Announces Live Performances to Celebrate the Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Jan. 14-17.
Free Live Music and Entertainment at Plant Riverside District’s “Let Freedom Ring” Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration. Plant Riverside District, known as Savannah’s Entertainment District, will present a full schedule of free live music and entertainment in memory of Martin Luther King, Jr. The celebration will kick off on Friday, Jan. 14 with a performance by rock-soul band LaFaye & The Fellas. On Saturday, Jan. 15, seven-time Indie Music Channel award-winner Willie Jackson and the Tybee Blues Band, the Moolaa Band as well as The Band Legacy will take the stage.
On Sunday, Jan. 17, Laiken Love and the Fellowship of Love and Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame member Teddy Adams and his jazz quintet will perform live along the Savannah riverfront. Reverend Teddy Williams and Company will wrap up the celebration with a special performance from Savannah Jazz Hall of Fame member Huxsie Scott on Monday, Jan. 18.
In addition, there will be nightly fountain shows at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park, featuring a special musical tribute by William Austin Smith, inspired by King’s legendary “I Have a Dream” speech. Family-friendly performances by the high-flying Cirque Divina will take place on Friday, Jan. 14 and Saturday, Jan. 15 at 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. in Montgomery Park.
