Oatland Island Wildlife Center will host an Open Fire Cooking Workshop, in which participants can enjoy a five-course meal that they have prepared throughout the day, along with learning how to choose and care for cast iron cookware, select fire wood, as well as curing, cooking techniques, recipes and other topics. All scouting leaders, youth or church group leaders, teachers, park staff, or just plain outdoor enthusiasts are invited to attend. The workshop will be held outdoors at Oatland’s Heritage Home Site. Participants should come prepared for the weather. In case of rain, a rain date will be selected.
The workshop is open to anyone 12 years or older and will include a full meal that the participants have created throughout the day. Price is $35 per person (includes admission to Oatland) and will be limited to the first 25 paid registrants. To register, please call (912) 395-1500.
