On Dec. 8, 2016, there will be a book signing for “Savannah Square by Square,” a visually stunning coffee table book published by Historic Savannah Foundation, at the Marshall House, located at 123 E. Broughton St., from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
At 6 p.m., Author Michael Jordan will deliver a short presentation on the history of Savannah’s famous squares and be available to sign books afterward, along with illustrator Mick McCay and photographers Les Wilkes, Connie McCay and Phil Hodgkins. In addition, exclusive full-color prints of selected photographs and drawings from the book will be available for sale. Light refreshments will be served, and the bar at 45 Bistro inside the Marshall House will be open.
All sales of books and images benefit the circa-1820 Isaiah Davenport House Museum, and everyone who purchases a book will be offered a buy one, get one free ticket for a tour of the Davenport House.
“Savannah Square by Square” features more than 300 beautiful color photographs and artfully rendered pen and ink drawings of all 22 existing squares, two lost squares and the “other squares,” Colonial Park Cemetery and Forsyth Park. The thoroughly researched narrative will provide a brief overview of each square and significant landmarks, when each was created, and for whom or what it was named.
