SCAD Arts Administration graduate student and curator, Alexandra Chamberlain, announces an exhibition featuring 15 different artists entitled Salvage:Stolen Expression at The Gallery at Sulfur Studios located at 2301 Bull Street. Free and open to the public during its entirety, Salvage:Stolen Expression will be on display from Thursday, April 30 until Saturday, May 2 from 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. each day.
The free opening reception for the exhibition will take place on Friday, May 1st, 2015 from 6PM – 9PM in Sulfur Studios. This opening reception is in conjunction with First Friday Art March and will include free refreshments and music for an art-filled evening.
Salvage:Stolen Expression showcases 15 different artists from both the United States and Europe and 31 different works of art all centered on issues of free speech, fair use, the 1st Amendment, and these legislative effects on artistic practices. Seeking to create an open conversation among its visitors, Salvage:Stolen Expression was created out of the thought that artwork on this subject should not just be admired, but discussed and used to spark a discussion among those admirers.
