No matter what the calendar says, it’s always Taco Tuesday for us. Luckly, there are many restaurants in downtown Savannah that serve tacos. Whether you’re just in the mood for some Mexican munchies or you’re celebrating Taco Tuesday, these restaurants should be at the top of your must-taste list.
Step into Carlito’s and you know you’re in for a good time. Located just on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd between Broughton Street and Oglethorpe Avenue, this restaurant with vegan and dairy-free options is a favorite among locals and visitors—particularly for their margaritas. On Tuesdays, enjoy $2.50 Tecate and $1 Crunchy Tacos, with filling options like ground beef, shredded chicken, beans and potatoes.
With seven locations in and around the Savannah area, it’s easy to find a Jalapenos Mexican Grill to get your taco fix. The environment is always vibrant and lively, and the menu is full of traditional and fusion Mexican food. Come in on Tuesdays and enjoy three beef tacos for $2.99.
Tequila Town is a hidden gem tucked away on Whitaker Street, just off Broughton. One look through the window and you’ll see a room full of satisfied customers. On Tuesdays, all varieties of their street-style tacos are $2 off! Whether you have a taste for el clásico steak or chicken tacos, or want to get adventurous the shrimp in the tacos de camarón, you’re bound to come back throughout the week.
Natural Selections Café—open for breakfast and lunch only—is a restaurant with only plant-based offerings. With healthy and delicious alternatives to meat and dairy products, the food is sure to impress the most carnivorous meat eater. Tacos only appear on the menu on Tuesdays, though burritos are on rotation.
The Bull Street Taco goes beyond Taco Tuesday, offering discounts on their tacos Monday through Friday during Happy Hour. From 5-7 p.m., enjoy $5 loaded guacamole bowls, $2 chorizo tacos and more. On Tuesdays, they have “Tacos for a Cause,” where they donate money to a charity that changes monthly.
Foxy Loxy is a Tex Mex-inspired coffee shop with a mellow vibe located on Bull Street, south of Forsyth Park. Their menu features tacos, guacamole, ranchero quiches, Mexican wedding cookies and much more. You can go and do homework, hang out with friends, or just relax to their coffee shop tunes. If you’re dining in on Tuesday evenings, you can enjoy live music during their regular Acoustic Tuesday performances.
The Ordinary Pub is an underground restaurant on Broughton Street that is anything but ordinary. The atmosphere is just as laid back as the staff, who make sure you have a great time and food you will enjoy. On Tuesdays, their chicken, beef and veggie tacos are $2 each. If you’re extra hungry, you could get the Big Taco Plate—featuring the chicken, beef and veggie tacos, plus the chef’s taco, star grizz sauce and fritter tots for $19.
Treylor Park is a fusion restaurant on Bay Street you won’t want to miss. Their tacos, like everything else on the menu, feature new combinations you won’t find anywhere else; there are chicken and pancake tacos, as well as shrimp and grits tacos! And, if that’s not enough, on Tuesdays you can get a free draft beer with an order of tacos.
