  • Tara Feis in Savannah

If you’re looking for a family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day event in Savannah, then this is it – Tara Feis. This free, non-alcoholic Irish festival always takes place the Saturday before the parade in Emmet Park. Two stages will be set up so a variety of performers can entertain crowds of all ages. But that’s not it! Inflatable bounce houses and obstacle courses, games and rides will all be set up in the park for kids to enjoy.

“It’s what we want people to think of when celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in Savannah,” said Winters. “It gives people a different way to celebrate, other than the parade and the River Street revelry that goes on.”

In past years, there have been tin whistle lessons, potato printing, Irish flag making and Irish castle making with sugar cubes. The festival, which started 24 years ago, has grown from a few thousand on River Street to about 25,000 people stopping by Emmet Park to watch an Irish band or see the dance groups.
