The Savannah Waterfront Association, City Market, and the Savannah Downtown Business Association will host the first Savannah Blues Weekend June 6 & 7, 2014! The three organizations are excited to partner up to and feature live music around the city all weekend long!
Savannah Downtown Business Association will be hosting their fourth Blues on Broughton event on Friday, June 6. Come “party in the streets” from 7-10 p.m. while enjoying a free concert on Broughton Street! Make sure to venture back downtown on Saturday, June 7 for Art & Soul at City Market. This event will begin at 11 a.m. with live music and an art walk in the courtyards. The Savannah Waterfront Association will be celebrating their second annual Blues, Jazz & BBQ during June’s First Friday & Saturday. Deep southern blues, smooth jazz, and smokey BBQ will be served up all weekend long on historic River Street!
Each of the organizations will also be sponsoring the Rhythm & Art Guitar Project benefiting the Heads Up Guidance Services (HUGS) Foundation. HUGS is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization making professional counseling and vocational guidance available and affordable to all who need and desire services. HUGS is funded by community donations and operated by local volunteers. Individuals and businesses can purchase one of the six foot guitars for $1,000. The guitars will be decorated and displayed around Savannah June 2-8. To reserve a guitar visit riverstreetsavannah.com to download the order form. The guitars can be delivered as early as May 15 and will be picked up on May 28 so they can be assigned their display location downtown.
