Get Hoppy with Savannah’s Craft Beer Week

Whether you’re a craft brew aficionado or just like a beer at the end of a long day, Savannah has a whole week dedicated to all things ales, lagers, and IPAs, with all kinds of events leading up to the 7th annual Savannah Craft Brew Fest. Here’s the whole breakdown of what to do, where to go, and when to do it during Savannah’s Craft Beer Week!


August 24th:

Georgia Brew Night at the Savannah Distillery Ale House
At the restaurant and bar formerly known as the Distillery, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 6 p.m., with 21 Georgia-made brews selling for half off from 6 – 7 p.m.

Highland Brewing Spotlight at the Crystal Beer Parlor
The restaurant will be hosting a “Keep the Pint Night” featuring new seasonal releases from Highland Brewing Company, a brewery in Asheville, North Carolina.

August 25th:

Red Hare Tasting at Whole Foods
A tasting from the Red Hare Brewery that calls Marietta, Georgia home. There’ll be lagers, IPAs, browns, plus other rarer beers on tap.

Highland Brewing Company Spotlight at The 5 Spot
The Highland Brewing Company’s rep, Jacob Sanford, will be visiting from Asheville, North Carolina, and bringing a lot of great beer with him. Three taps will be available: Gaelic Ale, Razor Wit Belgian Wheat, and the 20th Anniversary American Saison. The will also be a raffle, where you earn a ticket with each beer you buy, for the chance to win one of three prizes from the brewery. There will also be food specials!

Abita Sweet Shop at the Beer Growler
The Beer Growler, a cool to-go beer joint that sells beer in only 32 or 64 oz glass growlers are hosting an Abita event, featuring three delicious beer blends: raspberry lemonade (Triple Haze and Lemon Wheat), chocolate covered strawberry (Turbodog and Strawberry Wheat), and chocolate raspberry (Triple Haze and Turbodog). There will also be giveaways with the purchase of a 64 oz blend or two 32 oz Abita fills!

Dark Brews at the Savannah Distillery Ale House
Are you a Dark Brew aficionado? If so, this is the night for you! Dark Brews like stouts and porters are taking over the taps!

Southbound Pint Night at Kevin Barry’s
Featuring local Savannah Southbound beers, with a special going on: buy a beer, keep your pint glass as a souvenir!

Sam Adams Pint Night + Stein Hoisting at Crystal Beer Parlor
Keep the Pint glass tonight whenever you buy a beer, and take part (or just watch) the men’s and women’s Stein Hoisting competitions, where participants test their arm strength (and balance, depending on how much they’ve had to drink) to see who can hold up their stein the longest. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, including a chance to win a trip to Munich, Germany!

Red Hare Spotlight at World of Beer Savannah
All beers from Red Hare Brewery in Marietta, Georgia, featuring the Gangway IPA and burgers for loyalty club members!  They will also be screening Old School, with National Common and other Red Hare favorites on tap.

Left Hand Spotlight at the Beer Growler
Left Hand Brewing Company from Longmont, Colorado takes over the Beer Growler, featuring Haystack Wheat, Polestar Pilsner, and Chainsaw Strong Ale. There will also be exclusive giveaways and a Left Hand rep on “hand”. (like that pun?)

A-Town Tag Team at the Beer Growler Savannah
There will be a takeover with Red Hare, Red Brick, and Monday Night Breweries, who will all be releasing some of their newest beers: Red Hare Ill-Tempered Hare (IPL) and Hasenpfeffer (Oktoberfest), Monday Night Nerd Alert (Blonde/Pilsner), and a barrel-aged A-Town Brown from Red Brick. Plus more goodies and giveaways, and plenty of reps on hand for discussion!

August 30th:

7th Annual Savannah Craft Brew Fest at The International Trade and Convention Center
Catch the ferry across the Savannah River and let it take you to a paradise of everything beer! This is the main event of the week, the jewel in crown of Savannah’s craft beer kingdom. With breweries and representatives all over the world, spend your afternoon with unlimited two-ounce sampling of craft beers accompanied with great food, beer seminars, a mixology garden, a cider garden, a mead garden, a silent disco, a VIP experience, live music, and lots of corn hole!

Craft Brew Fest After-Party at the Savannah Distillery Ale House
There will be a great after party on the first and second floor of the restaurant, just bring your brew fest ticket and receive $1 off a draft of your choice!

August 31st:

Recovery Run at Your Pie Savannah
Okay so this event doesn’t start with beer, but we promise it ends with beer! Join the BDR (Brew Drink Run) Team for a 5K group run through the historic district if you want to burn the extra brew calories! The Meet Up is at Ellis Square Visitors Center, but post run, join Your Pie for a special craft beer tap list!

Brothers in Brewing with Bluegrass Brunch at Tybee Island Social Club
Tybee Island doesn’t want to be left out of the fun! Several local Georgia breweries including Southbound, SweetWater, Terrapin, Moon River, and many more will be present, and giving away glassware and other prizes!
