Don’t miss Tybee City Limits at the Tybee Post Theatre on Feb. 11, 2017 at 8 p.m. This monthly music series showcasing the best bands in the Coastal Empire sounds a soul-stirring blues beat tonight. This “Got the Blues” installment will be featuring G.E. Perry & Strange Brew, which has been has been associated with the likes of Greg Allman, Ted Nugent and Rick Springfield. Front man and guitarist/vocalist Gordon Perry, from Albany, has been playing the blues – and country and jazz — for five decades, often alongside his brother Mike Perry, one of the most solid bassists around. They’ve also got James Gay on harp, and Mike Bulloch on drums.
Also on the bill, is one of the island’s hardest working bands, Willie Jackson and the Tybee Blues Band covering the likes of B.B. King, Muddy Water and Stevie Ray Vaughn and offering up some originals, too. Willie hosts a weekly open mic night at Nickie’s 1971 Bar & Grill, and can be seen playing all over Tybee with Jim Simmons on harp.
