Due to the recovery and restoration efforts at the fort after Hurricane Matthew, For Pulaski has cancelled the 2016 Post Thanksgiving Field Day.
Opt outside and work off that those Thanksgiving calories. Fort Pulaski will commemorate the 154th anniversary of the Grand Thanksgiving Fete and Festival with a day of fun family activities. The event will recreate the field day offered by the 48th New York Infantry to celebrate their first Thanksgiving in Fort Pulaski. The day includes wheel barrow and sack races, dressing up in Civil War era uniforms and dresses, music, and the blasts of historical weapons demonstrations. There is a $7 entrance fee for those 16 years and older. Fort Pulaski National Monument is located on U.S. Highway 80, 15 miles east of Downtown Savannah. For more information, call Fort Pulaski at (912) 786-5787 or go to nps.gov/fopu.
