Participate in the International Coastal Cleanup on Sept. 16 by joining us on Skidaway Island from 9 a.m.-noon to remove marine debris from our marshes and improve the health of coastal habitats. Marine Extension and Georgia Sea Grant educators will lead the effort. Participants will meet at the UGA Aquarium and hike to nearby trails along Grove’s Creek. Please bring sun protection, water and a 5-gallon bucket if you have one. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes that can get muddy. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. RSVP required by Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. Contact Kayla Clark at 912-598-3345 or firstname.lastname@example.org to RSVP.
This event will kickoff National Estuaries Week, Sept. 16-23. Since 1988, National Estuaries Week has celebrated the many ways we benefit from healthy, thriving coastal ecosystems. All throughout the country, local organizations organize special events, like beach cleanups, hikes, canoe and kayak trips, workshops and more to recognize the special role these places play in our everyday lives.
