FUNdamentals of Beekeeping at Oatland Island Wildlife Center

The Coastal Empire Beekeepers Association (CEBA) will present a FUNdamentals of Beekeeping at Oatland Island Wildlife Center so participants can learn about the fascinating world of the honey bee and the art of hobbyist beekeeping. Classroom training covers honey bee biology, installing package bees, colony management, queen rearing and much more. Students will have hands-on opportunities in Oatland’s bee yard (apiary) to learn about smoker use, hive inspections and honeybee Do’s & Don’ts.

The program will be open to anyone age 12 and older. 8 a.m-4 p.m. $45 per person. There will also be a silent auction, raffles, and some give-a-way prizes randomly selected. For more information about this beekeeping event, contact Greg at (912) 704-3160 or Annie at (912) 395-1509.
