Because of the book’s unique connection with the city of Savannah, Double Bridge Publishing and author Dennis Maley are kicking off his book tour in Savannah with a reading and book signing. In fact, the city is almost a character unto itself in A Long Road Home, from the iconic cover, which was shot in an alley on Williamson Street, to the vibrant descriptions of the city’s many charms. Mr. Maley is a particularly engaging author, who greatly enjoys interacting with readers. The book follows 22-year-old aspiring singer Jenny Harris, who upon losing her mother to cancer, finds T.K. Connolly, a debauched recluse of a writer who has just been revealed as her biological father. Their journey of self discovery takes readers from the azalea-lined streets of Savannah to the rich culture of New Orleans.
About the author: Dennis Maley has been a featured Op-Ed columnist for The Bradenton Times since 2010. He has also been published in dozens of regional and national publications and is a regular panel guest on shows like Florida Watch. Maley, 40, is a former Captain in the U.S. Army and was a professional boxer until an injury cut his career short at age 27. He currently lives in a small beach town in Florida with his 11-year old son, Sullivan.
