13th Annual New Beginning Youth Art Exhibit
at the Cultural Arts Gallery
SAVANNAH, GA., January 24, 2014 – /www.savannahga.gov/ — The City of Savannah Department of Cultural Affairs is proud to host the 13th Annual New Beginning Youth Art Exhibition presented by the Savannah Chapter, The Links, Incorporated at the Cultural Arts Gallery located at 9 West Henry Street. The exhibition will be on display February 3 through 28. The opening reception will be held on Wednesday, February 5 at 6:30pm.
The Savannah Chapter of The Links, Inc. is a volunteer organization committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture of African Americans. The exhibit is held each year in conjunction with the Savannah Black Heritage Festival. Local middle and high school students enter works based on the 2014 theme “Dare to Dream; Create a Legacy”. President of Savannah Chapter of The Links, Dr. Connie Cooper said that exploring the theme helps students be creative and lets them know they can do anything they set their mind to. “To look within and make what’s inside come out speaks volumes,” said Cooper.
The winning artists will be announced at the opening reception on February 5th. This event is free and open to the public. The Savannah Black Heritage Festival is sponsored by the City of Savannah. Programs are supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. GCA also receives support from its partner agency the National Endowment for the Arts. For more information please visit www.savannahga.gov/arts or call 912-651-6783.
