St. Vincent’s Tour of Homes & Tea

October 2012, St. Vincent’s Academy will once again host this popular self-guided tour of the original 1845 Convent building and eight private homes in Savannah’s Historic District. The centerpiece of the tour of homes is the elegant tea, served on the Convent grounds.

The Beat Goes On! Join our cast and crew for a two-hour musical explosion of your favorite 60′s, 70′s and 80′s music. The Savannah Theatre celebrates the sounds of three generations as the cast sings its way along the musical highway of American pop hits with songs like Carolina Girls, Staying Alive and the Heart of Rock and Roll. $35 adults, $16 children. JEA Art Gallery, 5111 Abercorn St., presents two artist Sharon McIntosh and Barbara Duch for the month of April. Art Gallery reception on April 5th from 5:30-8 p.m. Free.

APRIL 1-29:
The Gallery at St. Paul’s, 1802 Abercorn (34th & Abercorn) will present “In God’s Country”, an exhibition of works by artist Bobi Perry. There will be an artist’s reception on Sunday, March 4 from 3-5 p.m. which is free and open to the public. stpaulsavannah.org.

APRIL 1-7:
The Savannah Music Festival is Georgia’s largest musical arts event and one of the most distinctive cross-genre music festivals in the world. Over 17 days each spring, the SMF stages world premieres, original productions and unique collaborations by renowned artists in classical, jazz, Americana and world music in intimate venues throughout Savannah’s historic district. Sahkanaga, 8 p.m. Part of the Southern Circuit of Independent Films. Sahkanaga (pronounced “sock-uh-nogga” and Cherokee for “Great Blue Hills of God”) is a fictional exploration of a scandal that rocked a tight-knit community in the Appalachian foothills of northwest Georgia. Shot in Walker County, GA, and cast entirely with local actors, many of whom had a direct connection to the real-life story, the film presents an unknowable tragedy from the perspective of one teenager who must grapple with the consequences of secrets and the difficulties of forgiveness. Fairy and Gnome Home Day at Oatland Island Wildife Center! 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. This family-themed day is all about the “wee folk”, getting up close with the natural world and encouraging active, outdoor play. Children and their adults can enter a fairy or gnome home building contest using all natural materials. Will your house be able to lure a Fairy from her wings? Would a gnome dare to tread past your threshold? Designs will be evaluated by a panel of judges and winners will be awarded prizes.
