Savannah is such an enchanting city to visit and the fall is possibly the best time of the year to plan a visit. With the beautiful scenery, the cool atmosphere and rustic charm, autumn and Savannah go together as well as pumpkin and spice! Not to mention, autumn is also one of the busiest times of the year in Downtown Savannah. There are so many events, activities and festivals, it’s almost impossible to keep up with them all! Good thing for you, we’ve compiled a list of the 20 most exciting festivals in Savannah to enjoy this fall!

 

1. Bacon Fest

Who doesn’t like a nice, warm, crispy piece of bacon? Bacon is AWESOME and adored by almost everyone—and believe it or not, it’s so much more versatile than just being another option at the breakfast table! Dozens of local restaurants will be creating all kinds of savory bacon dishes at the Savannah Waterfront Association’s annual Savannah Bacon Festival!

From bacon pastries, bacon candy and bacon lollipops to bacon popcorn and bacon soda, there’s so many options for all bacon lovers! There will even be live music with Dr. Bacon, My Maiden Name and Thomas Claxton & The Myth! Last year there was a bacon-fueled motorcycle sponsored by Hormel, a mechanical pig and derby-style pig races. This year is sure to be even bigger and even more bacon-filled!

Are you a beer snob or certified hophead? Do you love craft beer more than life itself? Then the Savannah Craft Brew Fest is the perfect event for you!

There will be plenty to do and see at this thirst-quenching fest featuring a variety of beer gardens, including an Import Garden, Cider Garden, Mead Garden and Mixology Garden. The Sam Adams Brew University will even be hosting a series of educational sessions, and for those seeking out the action, there will be a Cornhole Tournament and a Silent Disco! The Brew Fest will take place across the river, on Hutchinson Island in the International Convention Center.

Tickets include a souvenir sampling glass and unlimited samplings of 200 different types of world-class beer. VIP tickets include everything above, as well as a private beer tour with the Savannah Brewers League!

Discover where seafood in Savannah all started at the Pin Point Festival, which is dedicated to highlighting the rich history of Pin Point, allowing visitors to taste the seafood dishes that have been passed down throughout generations. Come out and celebrate the unyielding generosity of amazing friends supporting Jason Statts at the 7th Annual Statts Fest at the Grayson Stadium with the Savannah Bananas!

Jason Statts suffered a severe spinal injury after he was shot in the neck in 2008, and he is now a quadriplegic with a staggering amount of medical bills. His friends started a support group almost immediately after the incident to help raise money to support Statt’s care and quality of life. The first Stattsfest that they put together was right in Statts’ hospital room. The Stattsfest has grown into something truly amazing, and gets bigger and better every year.

Enjoy live local music, food trucks, a silent auction and several kids’ activities at the Grayson Stadium, home to the Savannah Bananas. Advanced tickets can be purchased online for $15, and day-of admission is $20. Children 12 and under are free!

The Savannah Jazz Festival celebrates jazz as a true living art form and offers all kinds of jazz music at venues all over Savannah; from Dixieland to traditional swing, restaurants to an outdoor bandshell, there’s something that everyone can enjoy! With artists such as Teddy Adams All Stars, King Solomon’ Hicks and The Peter Fish Group, the Savannah Jazz Festival will be unforgettable!

Feel like a full-blooded Grecian at this year’s Greek Fest. From gryos to baklava, the 2016 festival will be the tastiest one yet!

Held in the St. Paul’s Hellenic Center, the Greek Fest features three fun-filled days of authentic Greek food, guided tours of the Eastern Orthodox Church, live music, traditional dance performances and a Greek Market, where you can take home a little piece of Greece with you!

“There’s no experience required to get your Greek on,” said Tommy Danos, one of the 2016 Savannah Greek Festival chairs.

Celebrate the diversity of Savannah with the LGBT community at this year’s Savannah Pride Festival at Forsyth Park!

This day-long event not only features live music and performances, but also a marketplace with food vendors and artisans, along with local organizations and businesses. With the ever-popular White Party on Thursday night preceding the festival and an after party at Club One on Saturday, there's plenty to do and see! Have you ever dreamt of a day where you can pretend to be a swashbucklin’ pirate yourself? A day where you can dance a pirate jig, find a ton of treasure and say “Aargh” all day long? Check out the Tybee Island Pirate Festival—the only other time of the year, besides Halloween, where you can be a pirate and it won’t be super weird!

The Tybee Island Pirate Fest is a unique event that was started in 2005 in order to bring visitors to Tybee Islandduring the off-season. Since then, it’s grown into a huge, fun-filled three-day long celebration! The festival will kick off with a Buccaneer Ball at the Crab Shack on Friday night and continue with a parade and party at South Beach featuring music, dancing, games, carnival rides, costume contests and the Thieves Market, filled to the brim with treasure!

You’ve been to River Street, but have you been during the Savannah Waterfront Association’s Oktoberfest? Said to be the “Party of the Fall Season,” Oktoberfest is the biggest festival in Savannah during the fall!

This festival has been going strong since 1978, allowing locals and visitors alike to enjoy a little bit of Germany, Savannah-style. It's grown to a three-day event full German-inspired activities, including the famous Wiener Dog races, as well as Bratwurst Tasting and Oompah Dancing, with plenty of beer and authentic German dishes available! This festival is free and open to the public, with the cost of food and beverages.

Have you ever dreamt of sharing a seat on a Ferris wheel with a giant shrimp mascot? Make that dream a reality at the Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival—a glorious event dedicated to delicious seafood and good times!

Going strong since 1998, The Great Ogeechee Seafood Festival has about 35,000 attendees per year. Located just outside of Savannah in Richmond Hill, this three-day celebration is filled with delicious seafood, amazing desserts, carnival rides, arts and crafts booths and, this year, there will be live music by Nashville’s Jerrod Neimann!

Fall is the best time of the year in our area for gardening, and what better way to kick off the new season, than to visit local suppliers’ booths and nursery vendors, shop for garden-related tools and décor and, of course, venture out to the 250-foot-long Crapemyrtle Allee displaying all kinds of melons, gourds, squashes and pumpkins, perfect for pictures? There will also be lot of fall-themed snacks, activities for kids, as well as free gardening workshops!

Every year the Savannah College of Art and Design hosts the Savannah Film Festival, with screenings of unreleased and recently released films, as well as talks and panels with professional filmmakers, actors, writers and directors throughout a week in October. Each year brings bigger movies and even bigger celebrities! The Trustees Theater is the premiere location for this event, as well as the Lucas Theater. The Savannah Film Festival is truly a film lover’s paradise, right here in the heart of Savannah.

Attendees can enjoy live music, free workshops about sustainable living, cooking classes, as well as shop the huge Farmers Market with over 100 vendors throughout Daffin Park. If you're motorhead, road-racing fan or speed demon, then be sure to mark your calendar for Savannah Speed Classic!

A part of the The Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance, this is their signature Savannah event, which spans three days. Seeing as Savannah is the original birthplace of Grand Prix racing in the U.S., it only makes sense to keep up the tradition with the race in Georgia's First City! Come out and celebrate the heritage of out Hostess City and Grand Prix racing by witnessing this truly unique road race experience. Tickets range from $15 to $50.
