Whether you’re looking for a family friendly Halloween event to enjoy with your kids or a fun and freaky Halloween happening for you and a few friends, there are more than a few things to do in Savannah for Halloween! Here are some of the most exciting (and exhilarating) events to get you in the spooky spirit this October:

1. Dracula: Ballet with a Bite

Enjoy a dark night full of seduction, terror and blood during the South Carolina Ballet’s rendition of “Dracula” at the Savannah Civic Center. This must-see version of a cult classic is just in time for Halloween! For $10-$45, see Dracula continue his reign of terror over Transylvania and enjoy a truly terrifying experience for all.

Oct. 21-22, 28-29, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

What’s more frightening that our own historical demise? Check out this new, horrifically reimagined recreation of the deadly outbreak of yellow fever of the 19th century. Savannah was hit hard by the tragic yellow fever endemic, in which thousands and thousands of people died. Every Friday and Saturday in October, prepare to experience the horror of this outbreak as it happened in history, focusing on physician Mary Lavinder and the fate and the experiences of the people who were affected. Admission for this event is $22 in advance and $25 at the door.

3. Halloween Hike

The Halloween Hike at the Oatland Island is the perfect family-friendly Halloween event for every little ghoul, ghost and their families! Walk your little ones down the not-so-scary forest trail and gather tons of goodies from friendly forest creatures! Mother Goose will tell her famous stories and rhymes and Mother Nature will light the way throughout the hike. Admission is $6 for adults and $8 for children.

What’s more fun than Halloween costumes? What’s more fun than a DOG in a Halloween costume? Dress up your pooch and bring them down to the annual Wag-o-ween event, and visit participating shops in Downtown Savannah for yummy treats and goodies! If you don’t have a dog, borrow a friend’s, or even the neighbor's, or just come down anyway and see all the adorable pups all dressed up in their amazing costumes! Prizes will be awarded to the best doggy costume, and there will also be a sweet raffle and cool shirts for sale.

Prepare for the spookiest yoga session of your life! Held at the haunted haunted Moon River Brewing Company, Sue Finkle from Savannah Power Yoga will be your guide throughout the hour-long, all-levels class. The event is $20 per person, and all proceeds go to Carol Bontekoe, a.k.a. Sexy Pirate Unicorn, who needs any support she can get throughout her medical recovery.

What’s more in the spirit of Halloween than a hayride? This family friendly trick-or-treat event is perfect for all ages, and will feature a hayride throughout the beautiful Bethesda Academy campus, as well as trick-or-treating for the kiddos. There will be light refreshments, awesome activities and fun for all!

Oct. 27-31, 2016 at 7:30 p.m.

It's star time in Savannah! Join Brad, Janet and all of our unconventional conventionalists in this live cult classic musical, directed by Valerie America Lavelle, with musical direction by Robert Cottle. Discover what happens when sweethearts Brad and Janet head inside the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite scientist, and will meet a houseful of wild characters and lose their innocence. The showings at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27-29 are for those 21 years and older, the 7:30 p.m. showing on Oct. 30 is for all ages while the midnight showing is  for those 21 years and older, as well as the Oct. 31 showing at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $20 and table seating is $25.

Put on your scariest costume and go to Southbound Brewery for their official Halloween Party! Raise a glass to October’s Toast of the Town, Graveface Records & Curiosities to help kick off Graveface’s Fright Fest with Southbound’s special taproom release of the “Midnight Offering,” an imperial coffee oatmeal porter made with Graveface’s Perc Coffee Roaster’s blend. The tasting and tour is $20 per person, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the Rape Crisis Center of the Coastal Empire. DJ Doc Ock will keep the jams pumping, and Graveface will have a pop-up shop will all kinds of cool stuff for sale! This event is for anyone over the age of 21.

Prepare your best ball wear and masquerade masks for an unforgettable and enchanting night at the William Jay Society’s second annual Masquerade in the Mansion. Held at the beautifully haunted Telfair Mansion, this event features exciting entertainment, late-night treats and libations, dazzling decor, and a fun night filled with live music and dancing! The 19th annual Trick-or-Trot family 5k returns to the Islands YMCA, promising a fun run for everyone! This event is the perfect family-friendly run for people of all ages. Whether you’re looking for a warm-up for the upcoming Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, or if you’re just looking for something fun and healthy for the entire family to enjoy, this event is perfect for walkers and runners alike. This year’s run will raise funds for local charities supported by the Sunrise Rotary Club.

The Savannah National Wildlife Refuge invites everyone to their 2nd annual Halloween Bat Spooktacular, where people can come out and learn tons of valuable information about one of the “spookiest,” most misunderstood (and ADORABLE) creatures: the bat! This completely free, family-fun event offers children and adults alike the opportunity to experience up-close interactions with rescued bats, as well as tons of awesome activities and crafts—the perfect way to celebrate Bat Week!

Join the Savannah Ballroom Dance Studio in the Savannah Theatre for their spooktacular showcase, “Have Yourself a Scary Little Christmas.” With their new ghastly storyline and dramatic dancing, this event will be something new and amazing that no one has ever seen!
